new size & design for a Memento that will include Pluto.
over 7 years ago – Mon, Nov 07, 2016 at 11:06:25 PM

hey guys,

so I worked a little more on a possible Pluto integration. to do things well, it would have to be a 3rd option, either a 33.5 mm or 35 mm Memento. Pluto's orbit would be respected and accurate then.

check out the file. the 33.5 mm design will actually use the same orbits (plus Pluto) as the 25 mm version, so it won't be too narrow. the 35 mm version has the orbits scaled up a bit.

so what do you think, 33.5 or 35 mm ?

well, we have 7 days left for this campaign. I hope you will share it around with your friends and family.

there also 2 campaigns I backed and that are ending soon, maybe you'll like them too:

Holovect: Holographic Vector Display (only 4 days left!!!)
World's first desktop holographic display. It draws objects in air with light.

freaking awesome, don't you think ?? imagine your STC on an holographic display, that would be so damn cool...

LOST EMBER a story-driven exploration adventure (7 days left!)
Nature claimed back the post-apocalyptic realm of a fallen civilization. Play a wolf and possess other animals to uncover your destiny!

I also want to mention the awesome robots created by PlumGeek, they had 4 successful campaigns but I only discovered them today! I can't believe I missed those great projects.

but check out their site and follow them on KS if you'd like to know when they are launching a new campaign.

adding Pluto to the 30 mm version? please vote!
over 7 years ago – Fri, Nov 04, 2016 at 12:31:30 AM

hello dear backers!

so a bunch of you have been asking "where is Pluto?" and if I could add it to the Memento.

when I designed the prototype, I've decided to only show the planets and none of the dwarf planets, because I wanted to do a piece that was feeling like a coin. and within 25 mm I could not fit Pluto as its orbit is overlapping Neptune's and is a bit off center. and because I need some minimal clearance between each orbit and hole, for 3D printing, well it simply could not fit on the 25 mm version.

but the love for Pluto is still true and strong! I could fit it in the 30 mm version while using some artistic liberty by giving some extra clearance space between Neptune and Pluto orbits so they won't overlap, and recenter Pluto's orbit a bit.

but this would change the design of the 30 mm Memento.

so, I want your opinion, shall we add Pluto to it or not? let me know by commenting below.
